Introduction
- Spotify Statys is your personal data analyst for all of your created playlists on Spotify! We compare every metric possible between audio features, genres, Top 50 Rankings, and date added across all of your tracks, artists, and playlists!
This all started because I have so many different Spotify playlists, and I wanted to see how they compared against each other.
- I mostly like to organize my playlists by genre, so I wanted to verify that I was building my playlists the way I originally designed it. For example, do both my Upbeat Pop and Casual Pop playlists have mostly Pop songs, and does Upbeat Pop have more energy on average than Casual Pop?
I also just wanted to see cool stats about any of the songs that I was currently playing from my library, like if the artist was in the Top 50 or how many different playlists the song has been added to!
Disclaimer
- Although the URL is public, sign-in is not permitted to everyone, as I must first get Spotify’s permission to take data from any given user. I currently use this project along with 20 Beta Testers - thanks friends!
Accomplishments
- Built a web application using the Python-Flask framework integrated and hosted with Heroku
- Implemented dynamic querying through the Spotify API based on the user’s created playlists
- Visualized insights with over 30 unique Plotly figures including bar charts, timelines, and box plots

- Best when you’re jamming to one of your own playlists, but also works if you’re adding songs to a queue or listening to someone else’s playlist.
- If you close the window without logging out, you will have some time to reload the page without having to sign in and collect your data again
- Others cannot access your data even if you forget to sign out
